Introducing a blog is awkward, like introducing yourself at a party where you don’t know anyone or on the first day of school when the teacher made you stand up, and your shirt was covered in the stains of that morning’s orange juice (not that that really happened or anything). Unfortunately, a good introduction is necessary, and we have decided to embrace the awkward. We give you The Whittled Trees.
We are embarking on something new, jumping from our precipices, and while both of us have feared that this whole blog thing could flop like the floppiest pancake, we’ve decided to give it a go. We hope you’ll take the leap with us.
We have two different perspectives and lead two different lives. One of us is single and the other is married; one in Tennessee and the other in Louisiana; one with children and one without but both with experiences that have shaped us; both with thoughts; both with ideas. Both of us write but are timidly approaching the blogging world.
Think of a store packed wall to wall with furniture, both new and old, there is a piece that most patrons only glance at until one person in particular walks by and considers it worth the price. We all have things to say. We all have thoughts that over the years have been carved into masterpieces. In our experiences worth telling and in the mundane day-to-day, we can see that our thoughts are being “whittled” into something beautiful, imperfect as they are now. Though not everyone wants that piece of furniture, someone does; though not everyone will love our blog, someone will. We hope you are that someone.
Over the next few weeks, we will open our hearts and minds to you, and we only ask that you come along and enjoy the ride. At times, Mytra will write; at times, Whitney will write; and at times, we’ll write together. We welcome your thoughts, your ideas, and your stories. Please let us know how you feel about our musings via email or Facebook. If you have any topic ideas, please let us know!
And if this flops, we will flop together!
